NF CD Seeks Outdoor Winter Activities

August 7, 2017 - The Niagara Falls Community Development Department is seeking outdoor winter activity proposals for three downtown surface parking lots, for the Winter 2017-18 season, via Request for Proposal (RFP).

•Lot 1: First Street and Rainbow Boulevard (Adjacent to Niagara Falls Visitor Center)

•Lot 2: Third Street (Adjacent to Niagara Falls Conference Center)

•Lot 3:  Third and Niagara Streets (Adjacent to Sheridan Hotel)

Preference will be given to any proposal that creates outdoor public ice skating. “Ice skating in downtown Niagara Falls is a proud part of our community’s holiday tradition. We look forward to creating a partnership that brings ice skating back here, creating family friendly fun for our locals, and a reason for visitors to check us out in the off season,” said Seth Piccirillo, Director of Niagara Falls Community Development.

Through the RFP, due September 15, 2017, the City of Niagara Falls is welcoming interested and qualified seasonal outdoor event providers, with experience in events management/hosting, to respond. Selected operators will manage, operate and maintain the event space in accordance with a formal contractual agreement. Proposals may include winter events from December 2017 to March 2018, but will must guarantee that events will occur on December 2, 3, 8,9,10, 15, 16 and 17, 2017. Niagara Falls Community Development is working with a wide range of partners, including Destination Niagara USA, the Niagara Police Athletic League, Niagara Falls Conference and Event Center, Old Falls Street, LiveNF, Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, New York State Parks, USA Niagara, the Sheraton Hotel, the Downtown Niagara Falls Business Association, the Niagara Falls City Clerk’s Office, Niagara Hub,  Niagara Falls Tourism Advisory Board, Seneca Niagara Casino,  and the Hard Rock Cafe to create a schedule of holiday events focused on the first three weekends of December 2017.
