2018 Participatory Budget Voting Extended

NF CD Extends PB Vote

Deadline extended to September 14, More Voting Opportunities Added

Niagara Falls, NY – Niagara Falls Community Development has extended the voting period for Participatory Budgeting (PB)  360 to Friday, September 14.  Niagara Falls Community Development has allocated $360,000 in its federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for public space improvements in three neighborhoods of Niagara Falls: North End, Middle Pine, and South End.  Each neighborhood will receive $120,000 of public space improvements based on how residents vote for the proposed projects.

“We know that residents are the neighborhood experts,” Seth Piccirillo, Director of Community Development said.  “This process gives direct control to those experts – the people that live, work, and play in these neighborhoods, everyday.”

All city residents are eligible to vote and may select up to three projects total on their ballot.  The project with the most votes in each neighborhood will be funded first.  Additional projects in each neighborhood will be funded until each neighborhood receives $120,000 worth of public investment.

Additional voting opportunities will be held at the following events:

Wednesday, September 5, 8:30am to 10:30am at Orleans-Niagara BOCES Workforce Training Center (Corner of Walnut Ave and 6th Street)
Thursday, September 6, 6pm to 8pm at Center Court Park (Family Movie Night – Sherlock Gnomes)
Friday, September 14, 5pm to 8pm at John Duke Center (Color Your City 5K Run/Walk)

Residents may also vote in person at Niagara Falls Community Development offices during normal business hours until September 14.  The Carnegie Building (1022 Main Street) is open to the public Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8am to 4pm.

An announcement event open to the public will be held on Thursday, September 20 at 6pm at the Carnegie Building to declare the winning projects and provide resident input in how the projects are designed and moved forward.
