PB 2019 Idea Sessions Announced

 

Hyde Park Rose Garden/Bocce Court Improvements and 12-Month Family Programming are this Year’s PB Goals

April 8, 2019 - Niagara Falls residents are welcomed to directly plan, and then vote, on how public dollars are spent as part of the Niagara Falls Community Development (NFCD) Participatory Budgeting (PB) process. “Public projects are stronger when directly planned by citizens. This year’s PB will help bring new life to historic Niagara Falls spaces and bring dynamic activities to residents of all ages,” said Seth Piccirillo, Director of Niagara Falls Community Development.    

The 2019 PB, with a total budget of $360,000, will focus on enhancing Hyde Park’s Rose Garden/Bocce Court are the provision of family-friendly, year-round programming in public parks, facilities and the Niagara Falls City Market. PB starts with the following public idea sessions to review the entire process and to gain the public’s thoughts on both goals:

PB Idea Session #1 – Saturday, April 27, 10 am.

PB is funded by a United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) rather than municipal funds. In 2017, the City of Niagara Falls became only the second American city to use participatory budgeting to guide CDBG spending.
